Train Track Park

Residents of Jerusalem's southern neighborhoods proposed building a park alongside the old train tracks. Finally, after countless struggles, work on the project began in 2010 and a lush, green boulevard was built alongside the old train tracks, complete with pedestrian and bicycle paths, trees and benches. There are plans to eventually extend the park from the train station complex to the Malha train station, connect it to the Jerusalem bike trail and form a continuous trail of greenery.

The park's most outstanding feature is that it follows the old train tracks, which were transformed into an elegant walking trail, surrounded by attractive trees and grassy areas. A walk down the path reveals a changing urban landscape of different style homes and neighborhoods. The Train Track Park is an example of a community initiative that drastically improved the quality of life for the entire area.
