The establishment of the Cinematheque in Jerusalem was initiated by businessman and philanthropist George Ostrovsky, and through him he wanted to realize his vision of establishing a cinematic institution that would bring about a significant change in Jerusalem culture. The couple joined the project and together with Mayor Teddy Kollek and the Jerusalem Foundation led to the establishment of a unique structure for screening films, archives and a leading cultural institution. There are courses and film workshops and a multimedia center for Holocaust research.<\/p>\n
The Cinematheque quickly became a magnet for film lovers in Jerusalem and a cultural icon with a unique cinematic language. The Cinemateque is located on the Hebron Road with a breathtaking view of the walls of the Old City and the right of Moshe. Every year, the Cinematheque holds many different events, including an international film festival.<\/p>\n
